The house is to be built into a south facing slope and set over two floors, the first staggered back over the ground.  It should be a fairly average sized three bedroom house although we have decided to have only a large kitchen and living area on the ground floor.

It is built using earth rammed tyres for the foundations and the rear ground floor walls, and a timber frame with straw bale infill and lime render for the upper walls.  The roof, with the exception of the front slope (which is recycled car tyre slates), is to be turfed.

In addition the house will also "harvest" all it's water from the roof and recycle greywater for use in the toilet cisterns.
